Swapped out Bouncing Betty Blocks for the scrap busting swap

I love this block and you can us up so many of your scraps this way.  I like scrap quilts.  I think they have character.  Here is a picture of the blocks I have gotten so far.  I plan on sewing then together as soon as I get them so I can have this quilt finished quicker.

We will also be doing a swap of just 6 inch squares with 20 lights and 20 darks/medium squares.  I took some example pictures so show the group on Quilter Who Care yahoo group. Here is what they looked like.

This idea came from the quilt magazine called Quilt and in the magazine it shows all the differnt ways you can use these block and it is not just for the pinwheel block as the way I displayed these couple blocks.  There is 9 different quilts you can make with just a HST (half square triangle).
This should be a fun swap and with these squares ....I am planning to sew them together as soon I get my squares.  Then these to will be ready to make a quilt when this is finished.  I just have to decide which quilt of the 9 I will make.
Have a good night.  I have some sewing to do.

Walked in gentle snow

Today I took the dog for a walk in gently falling snow.  I think I enjoyed it more than the dog did.   This is all leading to something.   A little about myself.  I am diabetic and I need to get this all under control.  I saw a new doctor today.  A diabetic specialist. (wonder how much that bill is going to cost me)  He is a Indian by nationality (India) and he has a wonderful accent.  He told me he was not pleased with me nor my test results.  He upped my insulin and he prescribed a new medication which I have to mail in to Medco.  He also told me I have to walk 30 minutes 5 times a day.  LOL so now you know why I walked in the gently falling snow...but I sure am not going to walk in gently falling rain...hhehehe  I also have dug out my Leslie Sansone Walk away the pounds.  These are great for indoor exercise.  They are not boring either which I thought they would be.  I have been doing the 1 mile since my other Doctor told me to get moving. ....  So a moving I will be doing.

I have been doing some sewing but I need to do a lot more and I should be able to since I stopped going into Face Book which take up so much of my time before.  But I think it also gave me Trojans and worms.  I had to have my computer fixed 2 times in the last 5 month.  So I am all done with FB.  Now if I can just keep that promise to myself.

So look for  swap blocks being posted and finished quilts.  I am on a mission to get these UFO under control.

If you play power ball in your state and you have trouble coming up with numbers  I have on the bottom a spinner for you.  Give it a try...who knows you might be lucky.

I Found A New Charity

I found a new charity right here in Milwaukee and it is:

La Causa
Crisis Nursery and Respite Center
La Causa’s Crisis Nursery and Respite Center is a 12-bed facility for sheltering children ages newborn to 12 years in times of family emergency/crisis or when a highly-stressed parent needs respite care, a "time out" to prevent the possibility of child abuse and/or neglect. Our bilingual staff provides a safe, nurturing and homelike environment for the children until the family situation is stabilized. Meanwhile, crisis management, support, information and referrals are provided to the parents. We are southeastern Wisconsin’s only 24-hour Crisis Nursery, open 365 days a year

Trudi Hughes owned the Quilt shop that I loved to go to in Elm Grove, WI and she has books and rulers and patterns and she retired 2 years ago....I sure did miss her but I have found her again and she has a newsletter which I just joined and she has a Internet group which you can join for $60.00 a year and have her teach and have patterns. She is a wonderful teacher.

I am going to find out more about the La Causa center and see if I can help out there too. I go to the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee every first and third Monday and sew in the basement with other quilters and make quilts for the house. I have had my 2 grandchildren here this summer so I have not been able to get their and I am having withdrawals from not being with other quilters. So when Sep 1 get here - I will be running not walking to get into the doors of RMcD house.

My first time blogging

Hi, I am new at this blogging stuff and I really do not have any idea of what I am doing or what I should do. But since I just jumped into the deep end I better start swimming so I don't sink.

I am Linda and I love to quilt. I also and a co-owner of a yahoo group called Quilters Who Care. We are not real big but not small either. Right now we have 315 members. I love being an owner with Beth and We make blocks for BAMC which stands for Brooke's Army Medical Clinic which we make quilts for. This hospital Care's for our wounded soldiers who have been burned and now they are also caring for other wounded soldiers. So if you see quilts or quilt tops with heading of BAMC them this is were those quilts have gone to.

We also Help out QFK which stands for Quilts for Kids, we do a monthly lotto for blocks and Joan makes up the quilts and sends them on to headquarters and they goes to hospitals from there.
